Gates of the Arctic National Park, Alaska

An epic sunrise taken during the middle of a nine day backpacking trip in the summer of 2022. Was a wild night as I first stayed up to photograph sunset at midnight (you read that correctly; sunset was at midnight due to our location above the arctic circle). I then went back to my tent, napped for a few hours, then awoke for sunrise and took this image around 4:30 a.m. Following sunrise, I returned to the tent, took another nap, then embarked on a twelve hour journey to climb one of the high peaks above camp - you can read about that epic journey here.

The long days were one of my favorite aspects to this trip. We didn't always get clear weather but when we did it was magical as it never got dark. Instead, you'd have this beautiful blue hour from 1 - 4 a.m. I did my best to stay awake every night, reversing my sleep schedule. It was worth it for sunrises like this one.

This print option, a fine art paper print mounted on wood, is one of my most popular. The final product gives a clean, modern look and is exceptionally crisp with high detail and contrast. Wood prints are very durable and have little glare and reflection, which is a big plus. The artwork comes with a black beveled edge and has a 3D like feel as it floats off the wall. Fine Art Paper Print (Loose Print for Framing)

Images are printed on smooth Hot Press fine art paper. The result is a perfect reproduction of detail and an array of vibrant colors. These are loose prints so you would need to mat and frame it (as opposed to the other options which arrive ready to hang). This gives you the benefit of working with your local frame shop to customize the print to your liking. Given these prints are not mounted, proper care is necessary to avoid any damage to the print.
